We don’t wait anymore.
Headache? Take a pill.
Low energy? Drink something neon.
Can’t sleep? Chew a gummy.
Anxious? Download an app.
Everything must work in 15 minutes.
If it doesn’t, we move on.
But here’s the uncomfortable question:
What if instant relief is quietly training us to ignore the root causes?
A friend of mine runs a high-growth startup.
Three coffees before noon. Energy crash by 4 p.m. Laptop shut at 1:30 a.m.
Repeat.
When exhaustion hits, he doesn’t slow down, he upgrades the stimulant.
When stress spikes, he doesn’t reduce the load, he adds supplements.
When digestion acts up, he doesn’t change his food habits, he adds enzymes.
Nothing he’s doing is “wrong.”
It’s just… modern.
We’ve become incredibly efficient at silencing signals.
Because instant relief sells.
Root-cause reflection doesn’t.
Maybe not every discomfort needs to be eliminated immediately.
Maybe some of them are asking us to pause, adjust, and rethink.
In a world obsessed with speed,
slowing down might be the most radical solution.
What do you think, are we healing, or just muting the alarms?
